Resin Print Cost Calculator
Estimate resin material cost with a local waste allowance for supports, vat residue, and failed exposure tests.
Results update below from browser-local calculations.
Breakdown
| Base resin cost | 0 |
|---|---|
| Cost including waste | 0 |
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your own resin price per liter from the bottle, invoice, or shop notes.
- Copy the resin volume estimate from your slicer and add a manual supports or waste percentage.
- Use the base resin cost and waste-adjusted cost as the material line before adding labor, cleaning, curing, machine time, and markup elsewhere.
Inputs and Assumptions
| Resin price | Enter this value in $/L. |
|---|---|
| Resin volume used | Enter this value in ml. |
| Supports and waste | Enter this value in %. |
Resin material cost example
At $36/L, an 80 ml resin print uses $2.88 of base resin. With a 15% supports and waste allowance, the material line becomes about $3.31 before washing alcohol, gloves, post-curing time, cleanup labor, failure risk, or markup.
When Resin Cost Needs More Than Material
A resin miniature, mold, dental model, or small prototype can have a low material line but still take meaningful time to wash, cure, remove supports, inspect, and package. Keep that labor out of the resin price so the quote stays explainable.
If you are comparing resin with FDM, calculate the material line first, then add process-specific labor and failure assumptions before deciding which process is cheaper.
Formula
Resin cost = resin price per liter / 1000 × resin volume in ml. Cost including waste = resin cost × (1 + waste %).
Limits of This Calculator
- This calculator estimates resin material cost only; it does not include washing alcohol, gloves, cleanup labor, post-curing time, or customer communication.
- The resin volume should come from your slicer or manual estimate. No model file is uploaded or analyzed.
- Supports, vat residue, failed exposure tests, and messy cleanup should be represented by your manual waste percentage.
FAQ
Does this include alcohol, gloves, or FEP wear?
No. Add those as a manual shop cost in your quote if needed.
Does this fetch resin prices?
No. Resin price is always entered by the user.
